Wednesday Group 2

Hello,

well done with your work on continents today, we are going to move on to tectonic plates next week on Zoom we will check out volcanoes. Read through the slides and do the activity/ questions on the last slide. By next week you should be able to name continental plates as well as have knowledge of key information about how tectonic plates work and what they are.
A tectonic plate is a huge slab of solid rock which can be composed of oceanic lithosphere and thicker continental lithosphere, each with its own crust. These plates make up the surface of the Earth and these plates move around extremely slowly over millions of years. When two plates meet a variety of different effects can occur, from earthquakes and volcanoes to oceanic trench formation and the creation of mountains. Good luck, you will get a quiz next week.
