Hello,
today we had to get up early, because we met at school at 7 o'clock. Then we drove to the Hippala Farm by bike about 10 kilometres. In the morning it was not so hot driving in the sun, so it was easy to get there.
When we arrived the Family Hippala gave us a short introduction and overview of the farm, history and duties. Then they showed us the house were they milk the cows.
It was very tight in there but modern and built effective. That was quite impressive and I've never seen how cows getting milked by machines.
We could went along the way in this stable and got into the bigger part of the building were the cows live part-time. They also live on the meadow.
Among the big cows waiting to milked, there were calves. They were so cute and ssmal, land they sucked our fingers with their extreme long tongues. Later we learned that the calves get separated within a few hours after birth and that’s kinda sad.
In total there are 86 cows and 17 calves. There is much space for them.
In the following break we drank juice and fresh milk. We also are ice cream and took a rest.
In the end of our trip we saw a cow giving birth. It took about an hour till the calves finally laid in the hay. It was difficult for the farmer because the calve didn’t breath at the start but now he‘s healthy and alive.
When we were back at school we played some instruments in the music room and ate at the cafeteria.
Then we did our blogs and presentation in small groups.
After school we went shopping in a shopping mall in Kotka with many others. I bought some stuff and lots of food.
The whole day was quite amazing and cool.
See you soon,
Josi
