The Magdalen

The Magdalen

'

The Magdalen was painted by an artist by the name of "The Master of the Magdalen Legend" at the beginning of the 16th century, approximately between 1510 and 1520. The girl in this painting is presumably Margaret of Austria (although the painting is called "The Magdalen"), the daughter of Mary of Burgundy, the duchess of Burgundy (a region of France) from 1477 to 1482. The jar the girl is holding in her hands is a symbol for the ointment Magdalen poured on Jesus's feet.

The reasons for choosing this painting are as follows:
 - it looked interesting
 - it was easy to come up with the meme version of this painting
