Van Eyck - Arnolfini Portrait.jpg
The Arnolfini Portrait is oil painting of Giovanni Arnolfini and his wife. The painting is known also as The Arnolfini Wedding or The Arnolfini Marriage. It was painted in 1434 on oak panel. The painter who has painted The Arnolfini portrait is Early Netherlandish Jan van Eyck. The painting has been in the National Gallery in London since 1842.

There is two people in the painting; the one on the left is Giovanni Arnolfini and the right one is his wife. They are probably in their house in Brugge. Experts are not 100% sure who the wife is. There is two options; Giovanni Arnolfini's wife, Costanza Trenta, who died in 1433 and the painting was made for her memory or his other possible wife, which documentaries don't assure.

There is many renditions about what is happening in the painting. Some people think it depict engagement.
