Lecture 2 Rationalities, functions and roles
Lecture 2 Rationalities, functions and roles
In this lecture we first learn about three different ways of thinking: normative, practical, and analytical. After that the lecture relates these issues to education. At the end of the lecture professor Tjeldvoll begins to draw a very important framework regarding scientific paradigms meaning the approach a researcher or student has towards an issues to be studied. He describes the first axis of the framework by explaining us the subjectivist-objectivist scale; he’ll continue to complete the framework in lecture 3. At the end of the lecture, pay attention to how professor Tjeldvoll answers a student questions about two important constructs – idiographic and nomothetic.
