It's been an exciting time for the 5 and 6 year olds in enkun kielisuihku! Through play we become brave and curious travellers, every week we take the passports we made ourselves and fly off to another destination to learn English and experience new places. We've spent the past few weeks in England. We started with a story, in the story we heard about the Queen of England who has guards, did you know, the guards aren't allowed to react if someone talks to them? We had a go at being a guard and trying to make each other laugh, it was fun! We also heard that the Queen has beautiful diamonds, and do you know what happened? While we were distracted playing, the diamonds had disappeared from the Queen's crown. This led to photo orienteering, which took us to the location of each diamond. We worked together until we found them all. At the same time we learnt the colours of the diamonds. Can you imagine, the Queen was so pleased to have them back, she invited us to have a tea party with her. We saw what it looks like at Buckingham Palace and we knew we had to decorate our party rooms to make them fit for a Queen. We made Union Jack bunting which we hung on the walls. Of course, we had to have something delicious to eat with the Queen, and that led us to baking scones, a very traditional English treat. Finally, it was party day! We had been waiting in anticipation of meeting the Queen for what seemed like a long time, it was so exciting! Also, we didn't know what tea would taste like, or how we'd like scones, or what the Queen would be like... So exciting! Last week we celebrated the return of the Queen's diamonds with a wonderful tea party and dance. What fun we've had! We've been so brave tasting the strange tea with milk, and some of us liked it! The scones with jam and cream were yummy, and we all learnt the Queen's court dance so well! The Queen was so nice and she told us she arrived in a horse and carriage and she has 5 dogs! Can you believe it? Afterwards we drew our memories of the trip in our enkkuvihkot, a lovely souvenir of our journey to England. Now we're looking forward to our next adventure, I wonder where we'll be going next?
