Interdisciplinary study module "Our Baltic Sea"
The interdisciplinary study module “Our Baltic Sea”, created by Oriveden lukio, explores the Baltic Sea as a fragile and unique ecosystem shaped by both natural processes and human activity. Students learn about its brackish water environment, biodiversity, and key challenges such as eutrophication, pollution, and climate change.

The material for the study module emphasizes understanding scientific processes, analyzing real-world data, and examining international cooperation in protecting the sea. Overall, the study module encourages critical thinking and highlights the importance of sustainable actions to preserve the Baltic Sea for the future.

Project event in Vaasa 11-12 May 2026
During the project event, we shared concrete examples of how to integrate Baltic Sea and sustainability topics into teaching through projects, workshops, and thematic activities. We provided ready-made learning materials and activities suitable for lessons and interdisciplinary modules, encouraging investigation, observation, and student engagement. We also presented models and approaches for organizing local and international cooperation between schools, including student participation in joint projects.
