This lecture is about competitiveness, especially competitiveness among nations and its features. Professor Tjeldvoll first relates competitiveness to economical power, and then explains how different countries try to enhance their economic power and competitiveness. Especially, he discusses the human factor, the quality of labour, and the productivity-centred approach. Then, he explains how this approach effect education through decentralization and standardization.
