Respect. I think that nowadays there is a huge problem with students not respecting their teachers. I´m not saying that students should view teachers as "higher beings" but students should respect their teachers, and of course teachers should also respect their students. The concept of "respect" should be brought up with the students and this topic should be broadly discussed.
Co-operation skills. I think that schools are doing a great job of increasing the amount of group work, but there can never be too much co-operation! The number of tasks that need co-operation could be increased especially with young children.
Valuing democracy, justice, fairness, equality and the rule of law. Even though Finnish schools are quite democratic, there are still some problems with democracy in schools (for instance students should be heard more often). There is also still some unfairness/injustice between different genders; many students feel like the opposite gender is being treated differently and that needs to be changed!
Knowledge and critical understanding of the world. With young children having access to the internet it is really important that they learn early what is true and what is not. As the world keeps globalizing it is also extremely important that children learn about different cultures and realize that we are all the same despite our differences. These topics should be introduced to children more actively.
