Lecture 1 Starratt's views: worries

Lecture 1 Starratt's views: worries

The first lecture begins with presenting some general “worries” or problems schools face all over the world. Pay attention to the students’ discussion when they try to uncover and clarify what kind of problems and “worries” there can be in educational organizations.

Before any lecture either print or save to your computer the assigned Power Point presentation.

Assignment before the lecture: 1. Reread the following article, which was earlier assigned in Session 2, lecture 2.

Robert J. Starratt. (2008). A Neglected Dimension in the Professional Ethics of Educational Leadership: Cultivating the Moral Character of Teaching and Learning. BC Educational Leadership Research eJournal. The University of British Columbia.

2. Also, think about the increasing pressures schools all over the world are facing. Naturally, depending on the situation, the problems are different. Thinking of your own school, region or country, write down your ideas about the topic: “Moral crises in schools – are there any today?” Save your answer to the discussion area, read and comment at least one other such report.
