The PISA- studies conducted by OECD are very comprehensive studies giving information not only on student outcomes on the tested fields, but also students and their principals also answered questionnaires about themselves and their schools. This allowed PISA to identify what factors are associated with better performance. In session four, professor Jouni Välijärvi explains in detail the PISA results and continues the discussion of the success of Finland in PISA.

Session 4 consists of six lectures and PowerPoint slides related to it. There will be no readings no assignments in this session, but keep in mind in this session, as well as in the sessions to come, the assignment for this course. It is therefore advised, that while listening the lectures, make your own notes about the educational solutions in Finland.
