The extremely good results in the PISA studies in 2000, 2003, and 2006 has turned the global attention in education Finland. Maybe as a surprise internationally and domestically, the good PISA results have now been under a major research, and some clear factors underlying the Finnish success can be found. Although it is rather clear that some of these success factors ‘do not travel’ well from one country to another, there some important factors that need to be understood so that appropriate action can be made in order to enhance education in any country.

Session 3 consists of 7 lectures and PowerPoint slides related to it. There will be no readings no assignments in this session, but keep in mind in this session, as well as in the sessions to come, the assignment for this course. It is therefore advised, that while listening the lectures, make your own notes about the educational solutions in Finland.
