Session 9 The Norwegian Case: Equality Versus New Public Management

In this session we talk about Norway and the educational reforms conducted there. Professor Tjeldvoll tells about the clashes in understanding school leadership in Norway. He also analyzes both the historical tradition and the present New Public Management approach in understanding the different opinions.

During the session, professor Tjeldvoll explains the large changes and megatrends globally that affect the educational policy and curriculum changes in Norway, and globally.. He also explains the Norwegian policy and ideology in the decision making. At the end of the lecture, he argues for a strong redirection in thinking in Norway and calls all of us to strategic thinking in educational policy issues.
