  1. Who is the author? Which genre? How does the plot proceed? Be brief!
  2. How does the books make you feel and what techniques does the author use to create the mood?
  3. Who are the main and minor characters and what are they motivated by?
  4. Which characters do you relate to or find difficult to understand? Why?
  5. Which line or paragraph in the book makes an impression on you? Why?
  6. How would you interpret the ending? What is the story trying to say?

By the end of the course, finish the book and either...

  1. Turn in your notes in the form of a book report.
  2. Or, show up for a 10-20-minute interview with the teacher. You can bring your book to the discussion.
