Lecture 4 Organizational isomorphism

Lecture 4 Organizational isomorphism

Lecture 4 looks into the process of institutionalization. We learn how stiff and inflexible culture is born in the organizations. The lecture points out the way organizations operate, produce services, and gradually alter themselves to resemble the external society's (rational) perceptions of the organizations work.

At the end of the lecture we study isomorphism, which is the dynamics causing organizations in the same industry resemble each other. We also learn how organizations develop decision making ritual instead of rational. As a result, organizations can even become "institutionalized theatre”.
