Finnish Adult Education Association

Finnish Adult Education Association is an umbrella organisation for national non-formal adult education associations in Finland. It is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1969. FAEA´s main responsibilities are promoting non-formal adult education and learning, promoting the research on non-formal adult education, and international co-operation.

Promoting Non-formal Adult Education and Learning

The goal of the association is to secure learning opportunities for adults and economical resources for non-formal adult education institutes. FAEA is actively engaged in discussion with the ministry of education on the future development of adult education and training. 

Promoting the research on non-formal adult education

FAEA co-operates with three Finnish universities in strenghtening and increasing the research on non-formal adult education. The co-operational program is called Freedom and Responsibility in Liberal Adult Education. See the website.

International Co-operation

FAEA is a member of the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), and works through it to better possibilies for life long learning in Europe. 

In the Nordic context FAEA is a member of the network of the Nordic non-formal adult education associations Folkbildning i Norden.
