Lecture 3 Structural frame

Lecture 3 Structural frame

Lecture 3 starts with the problems of structural frame arguing that it neglects the ethical dimension of the organization. Team work and cooperation are also problematic under the structural paradigm. A leader who overly emphasizes the structure may turn to be a petty tyrant. Later in the lecture, professor Alava uses a real-life case to explain the change of scientific management in Finnish education system from 1970s to 1990s. Please pay attention to the analysis and discussion. In the last part of the lecture, students discuss their observation of where and how have they detected the structural frame in education.
