Lecture 4 continues with the discussion about leadership challenges at schools. According to Salo (2002), there are three micropolitical arenas in school: the private arena, the public arena, and the interaction arena. Lecturer Värri takes Finland as an example. He points out that Finnish schools are considered as closed system. Since the teachers are highly professional, parents or other stakeholders rarely get involved into daily teaching activities. However, the new school leadership reform calls for more team work among teachers. It is very challenging to broaden the interaction arena.
