Topic: presentations on the UK

Tool: Spark Video (iPad)

Method: Working in pairs

What: pictures, texts, recorded explanations (SPEAK LOUDLY AND CLEARLY, MAKE SURE THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IS NOT TOO LOUD)
DURATION: MINIMUM 2 MINUTES - MAXIMUM 5 MINUTES!

When: Schedule

1) Wednesday 4th December : getting started, choosing your topic of interest, creating a SHARED Adobe account with your partner - REMEMBER
PASSWORD!

2) Working at home: share and divide tasks and responsibilities equally!

3) Monday 9th, Wednesday 11th

4) Working at home: share and divide tasks and responsibilities equally!

5) Wednesday 18th : working in pairs at school 

In January: 
5) Wednesday, 8th January : Working at school (and at home) : Finishing the presentation and submitting THE LINK into Pedanet by the end of the week


The presentations will then be watched together in class.

1) General information related to geographical terms and concepts + basic facts about the different parts of the UK

- explain the difference between and the location of the following concepts: 

- The British Isles, Great Britain vs Britain, United Kingdom, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland,
- use maps to demonstrate the locations
- photos of the different parts of the UK (nature, landscapes)

2) Daily Life 1. (Mateo, Amy)

- houses, food and drink, pubs

3) Daily Life 2. 

- manners and etiquette /customs and traditions

4) Calendars of Events 1. (January – June) (Meea, Zainab)

- general background information related to the monarchy and the royal family and its/their traditions (not the latest "gossip" in evening papers!)

- general information, brief personal history, Queen's role and duties and obligations

8) Symbols
- What is Britain known for?
- Which things are considered typically "British"?
- Which things symbolise Britain and why?

9) Sports (Vivica, Katariina, Noel)

- present particularly some of the less well-known sports for Finns: eg. cricket,

tennis (Wimbledon!!!), horse racing, netball, rugby, polo, university boat races, darts

10) London (Jessica and Iris)

- general information

- different parts of the city

- tourist attractions

11) History 1:

- major events between (AD 00 – 1600 AD):
- eg .Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Normans, Vikings…

- choose carefully, explain very briefly, don't try to explain everything = don't go into too much detail!

12) History 2: 

- major events between 1600-2019

- eg. establishing colonies, Queen Victoria, WW1 and WW2
- choose carefully, explain very briefly, don't try to explain everything = don't go into too much detail!

 13) Famous people (Minka, Laura)

- focus mainly on people with a well-established reputation in history, and less on present-day "passing" celebrities!

 
Arviointi:
1) Itsearviointi: kuinka parityöskentely sujui? jaoimmeko tehtävät tasaisesti eli panostivatko molemmat työhön suunnilleen yhtä paljon? käytimmekö riittävästi aikaa tehtävään? olemmeko itse tyytyväisiä lopputulokseen: miksi? /miksi emme?
2) Opettajan arviointi: 
- ohjeistuksen noudattaminen: riittävä pituus? äänitetyt selostukset mukana?
- aiheen käsittely: selkeä? riittävän laaja? informatiivinen?
- englannin kieli: ymmärrettävyys, oikeakielisyys, ääntäminen
