- explain the difference between and the location of the following geographical areas / concepts / terms :
- The British Isles, Great Britain vs Britain, United Kingdom, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland,
- as visual aid, try to find CLEAR MAPS to demonstrate the locations
- maybe include some photos of what the different parts of the UK look like in general when it comes to nature and landscapes, for example (the most well-known landmarks?)
- explain how British people identify themselves (eg. Do the Scotts want to be referred to as being English?)
2) Daily Life: British food

- present some of the typical/traditional British foods / include pictures!
- Explain the various meanings of "tea" for the Britts! (it's not only a drink - it refers to a certain mealtime!)
3) Festivals and celebrations:
http://projectbritain.com/index/festivals.htm
- present some of the celebrations and special holidays and customs and traditions related to them (especially the ones that we don't celebrate in Finland!)
- focus on finding out WHY people celebrate on that day and HOW do they celebrate
DO NOT try to cover all the celebrations listed on these pages - pick and choose a few (maybe max. 5)!
4) The Queen (and the new King? - if you like) (Regarding the Queen, naturally partly outdated information - you may google for updates from other pages)
http://projectbritain.com/theQueen.htm

- general information, brief personal history (= the Queen's) + the King's role and duties and obligations
5) Symbols
http://projectbritain.com/symbols.html
- What is Britain known for?
- Which things are considered typically "British"?
- Which things symbolise Britain and why?
Don't deal with the topic "Famous people" here, because it is a separate topic to be dealt with by another member of your group.
6) Sports
http://projectbritain.com/sport.html
- focus particularly some of the less well-known sports for us Finns: eg. cricket, tennis (Wimbledon!!!), horse racing, netball, rugby, polo, university boat races, darts
7) Famous people
http://projectbritain.com/famous_people.htm
- choose 5-8 people and describe briefly what they are famous for
- focus on people with a well-established reputation in history, NOT on present-day "passing" celebrities!
8) Multicultural Britain:
http://projectbritain.com/multiculture.html
- Why can the British be described as an ethnically diverse nation or mixed race society?
- Find out about the people's origins and the different reasons why they have immigrated to Britain?
