Coronations of Elizabeth II and King Charles III /posters
Instructions
1) The teacher will give you a text with a number (1-7). This means that 3-4 pupils will get the same text. Some texts are a bit longer than others...
2) Starting at school + homework for Wednesday 30th September: Read your own text, use online dictionaries if necessary. Try to decide which pieces of information are the most essential and underline the main points. YOU DON'T HAVE TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!
3) At home: Write down (in your notebook) the essential bits/sententes in English and also (Finnish pupils) translate them into as fluent/natural Finnish as you can. DON’T TRY TO TRANSLATE THE WHOLE TEXT - YOU DON'T NEED TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING!
3) In class on Friday, 1st September: Join forces with those classmates who have read the same text as you: compare your notes, if necessary, add more information in your notebook based on what the others have written. Then discuss and negotiate who is going to write what: write the information on separate pieces of paper - both in English and Finnish!. (Everyone writes different pieces of information - negotiate with each other to make sure that you are not rewriting the same thing as somebody else in your group!)
4) Finally, glue and combine the pieces of information (i.e. the different pieces of paper each one of you wrote) on one poster. Pay attention to the order in which the information is presented! Is it a logical order?
5) The teacher will provide each team some pictures to be included in your posters.
6) End result of the project: Seven posters, four of which deal with Queen Elizabeth II and the other three with King Charles III-
