Hungarian teachers 25.3.-29.3. 2019

Greetings from Hungarian teachers

Report

We are Andi, Éva, Joli and Renáta - primary school teachers from Bicske, Hungary.

We took part in an Erasmus+ project at Mutalan School from 25th March to 29th March 2019. Our aim in this mobility was job shadowing. That is why we visited many lessons (Maths, English, Craft, Finnish and History) and spent as much time as it was possible with all the teachers to talk about teaching. We were grateful to get the opportunity to visit Koli National Park. It was the most amazing experience we could get about Finnish nature and its beauty. We also got the chance to take some lessons: we introduced Hungary to the school and had some workshops, where we made traditional Hungarian decoration for Easter with the pupils.

Some impressions about Finnish schools, which we liked the most:

-Pupils can work free, leave the classroom if they want (without any behaviour problems). They know what they have to do and they also want to develop.

- The material and financial background of the school because the government provides everything.

 - At school canteen children can choose what to eat. There is always a wide variety of food and vegetables because healthy food is really important.

- There is always a teacher assistant who helps children (especially with younger pupils) during the lessons.

- All the pupils and teachers are really calm, happy and motivated. There is no stress on them. Moreover, parents and all the society respect teachers and their work.

-The director of the school is also a teacher and has got a class. He does his official work in the afternoon.

All in all we would like to say thanks for the possibility to spent this week in Joensuu. Thanks for all the teachers at Mutalan school for taking care of us.
