Project description
Reading strengthens the minds. It helps build mind/brain muscles, i.e.it stimulates memory, broadens imagination, enhances analytical abilities, thinking skills, however we tend to take this project and the reading as the backbone a bit further – the intention is to build a community of mixed minds, different generations, age groups, appoint each age group with age-appropriate assignments that shall be passed on to the next generation and thus resulting with digital products (Minecraft games, video stories, memes, GIFs, etc.). The stories chosen for this project have strong morals focused on encouraging our students along the path of right living.
Aims
We aim to develop the following:
- Critical thinking skills
- Innovative thinking
- Problem solving skills
- Reading, listening and speaking skills
- Cultural competences
- Social and emotional intelligence
- Digital competences
- English language proficiency
Work process
The stories are chosen from the book ‘Buddha at Bedtime’, Dharmachari Nagaraja. These are tales of love and wisdom to inspire our students to read, help them choose the right living path, show them the power of compassion, and help them build a community of mixed minds. The senior students (high school students) shall adapt the full-version stories to the next generation of juniors (elementary school), and these shall pass the ball, i.e. adapt adapted version of the stories for the youngest students in this domino-effect model of enhancing reading habits. There will be three online sessions where pupils shall exchange their products, check reading and listening comprehension of the adapted stories, share impressions.
