Background 1: The world is changing and pupils are required to adopt multiple skills such as (learning to learn, multiliteracy, media-, social-, and interpersonal skills) Transversal competences, skills for learning to learn are emphasized even more. school implements an equal, holistic, long term inclusive and participatory pedagogical approach where pupils understand their active role in learning, apply skills for the future and develop trust in their own strengths while taking into consideration the starting point and levels of support needed.

The schools makes sure all pupils have equal opportunities to experience participantship regardless of the level of support they need or their background. Pupils’ participantship and skills for the future should be realized for all. 

We implement entrepreneurship education as required in the Finnish Curriculum. The goals for 1st to 3rd is entrepreneurial attitude towards learning and for 4th to 6th the goal is to strengthen pupil’s responsibility for themselves and know-how (self-regulation, responsibility). 


Background 2: Mutala School educates active learners for the future who possess digi- and multiliteracy skills. Our staff have strong know-how with ICT tools but also the will to develop and renew their pedagogical use of ICT. Means for developing pupil’s multiliteracy and ICT skills are to make sure the school staff have enough possibilities to educate and further advance themselves. 


Background 3: Mutala school wants to implement green values and find sustainable solutions in a global context. We are part of LUMA network (STEAM, UEF University cooperation). We want to enhance our methods and provide quality education in sustainable means.


Background 4: Mutala school is a safe school for all pupils from various backgrounds, social status and regardless of the level of support the pupils needs. A safe place to study, to be oneself, find one’s own strengths and experience the joy of learning! Our motto is get excited and learn! Cultural identity and European coherence is crucial especially now. Our pupils are guided with positive pedagogy tools to sustainable and safe everyday life and to find their own strengths as learners.
