20. - 21.1.2023 The visit of Helsinki

Hello everyone!

We are the Italian guys who came to Oriveden lukio as Erasmus+ exchange students and we are going to tell you about our journey in Helsinki.

Friday the 20th of January we went to visit Helsinki with our friends Iida and Sara, and accompanied by our Erasmus coordinator Jenni. We left Orivesi in the afternoon, after the morning classes, taking the train.

We arrived in the Finnish capital in the evening. From there we went straight to the hotel and after saying goodbye to Jenni and left our luggage in the hotel room we decided to do some funny activities, having already explored the city and visited the most important monuments two weeks ago.

In fact, the first activity we had was at the Megazone, a center where you can have fun shooting laser guns. Each one was wearing a vest and to earn more points you had to shoot your gun at it. After an hour of activity we were all sweaty but we had a lot of fun. After that we walked through the streets of the center looking for some restaurant to eat .. but in the end we chose to eat a hamburger at McDonald's.

It was late, so after the dinner we went back to the hotel but no one knew what the next morning would have reserved for us …

”THERE’S SMOKE, GET OUT, GET OUT!”

We were woken up by the fire alarm and the cries of hotel guests. In a few minutes a lot of people found themselves on the stairs to understand how to behave. Fear could be seen in people's eyes and increased when the flashing lights of the firefighters were seen outside the window.

Luckily it was just a mistake and we returned safely to our rooms. After a few hours we went for a delicious breakfast and then headed to the Allas Sea Pool-Sauna.

Here we tried the unmissable Finnish tradition of ice bathing in the sea. It was fun but the sea was really cold. After drying off we walked through the streets of the center, and after having lunch, we did some shopping. And we have come to the end of our trip to Helsinki where really everything has happened!
