Introduction of our school
In Myllylä School we have classes from 1 to 6 at the moment. We also have an individual learning assignment class and a class for immigrant children. We have 280 pupils at school. In the autumn 2015 we were celebrating our 20 years as a school.
Our school is located close to the center of Orimattila. Orimattila is a rural city which has a large area. Our pupils come from close areas of Myllylä, Koivula and Lintula. In our school there are some immigrant pupils, too.
Our main idea is "A chance for every learner". This is for children as well for adults.
Working and learning together is important for all of us. Every adult is for all the pupils. We are excitable explorers in the world of learning. We are keen to work in mixed-age and subject groups.
In our daily work we used to use ICT. Also pupils are very good at using the help of modern technology. We have a broad-band net in our school. All the teacher have studied ICT skills and arer able to use it. We like languages and all of us speak English, Swedish and many of us either German, French, Spanish or Italian. This has been one result of our former Comenius-projects.
One of our focus is internationality. We have worked in several EU-projects from the beginning of our school. Now we are as partners in a new Erasmus + project. This is something that all pupils, staff, parents and local authorities find very important. Right now we have a Erasmus+projects for teacher training (KA1) as well for the whole school (KA2).
