Terveisiä Ranskasta
Moi kaikille Ranskasta! Minun nimeni on Aatos ja olen ollut vaihto-oppilaana syyskuusta asti
Troyesissa, Champagne-Ardennen alueella. Tämä kuudenkymmenentuhannen asukkaan
kaupunki sijaitsee viinitilojen keskellä Pariisista kaakkoon. Vaihtoperheeseeni kuuluvat
vanhemmat, isosisko ja seitsemänvuotias koira. Täällä käyn paikallisen lukion Lycée
Chrestien de Troyes toista vuosiluokkaa. Koulua käyn ranskaksi, ja koulujärjestelmä eroaa
hieman suomalaisesta järjestelmästä, esimerkiksi päivämme saattavat kestää klo 8.00–
18.00 ja opettajia täytyy teititellä ja kutsua sukunimellä. Koulussa sekä vaihtojärjestöni
järjestämillä leireillä olen saanut mahdollisuuden tutustua uusiin ihmisiin eri puolilta
maailmaa, mikä on ollut mielenkiintoista ja silmiä avaavaa.
Olen päässyt tutustumaan myös Ranskan nähtävyyksiin kuluneen vuoden aikana. Pariisiin
on täältä puolentoista tunnin junamatka, joten olen käynyt siellä tähän mennessä kolme
kertaa. Taidan vielä kerran palata sinne ennen lähtöäni. Näistä kolmesta kerrasta
mieleenpainuvin oli se, kun kävin siellä tyttöystäväni kanssa. Olen myös viettänyt viikon
vaihtoperheeni kanssa Mont Blancin juurella nauttien henkeäsalpaavista maisemista.
Viimeisen kahdeksan kuukauden aikana olen ranskan kielen lisäksi oppinut kokonaan
uuden kulttuurin ja erilaisen elämäntavan. Olen myös oppinut liudan muita tärkeitä taitoja,
kuten tunnistamaan erilaisia juustoja. Alussa oli vaikeaa ja turhauttavaa sopeutua täysin
uuteen ympäristöön. Nyt arki pyörii jo sujuvasti ilman moitteita, minkä lisäksi olen innoissani
paluusta Suomeen alle kahden kuukauden päästä.
Koen kasvaneeni ihmisenä tämän kokemuksen aikana, koska mielestäni vaihtokokemusta
voi verrata vuoristorataan huippuineen ja pohjineen. Kokonaisuudessaan vaihtoon lähtö on
ollut erittäin opettavainen kokemus, jonka tulen muistamaan lopun ikäni.
Ben, Saksa 2024-2025
Moi, minä olen Ben, normaalisti asun Saksassa ja tänä vuonna olin vaihto-oppilas Muuramen lukiossa!
Living with a family near Korpilahti, one of the most exciting years of my life began - in a country far from home, across the Baltic Sea, known for happy people and endless lakes: Finland!
All of it started right here at Muuramen Lukio. When the year began, I had no idea how many amazing friends and unforgettable moments were waiting for me.
My first school day at Muuramen Lukio was pretty interesting. It was the first time I was surrounded by complete strangers, all speaking a language I could barely understand. But Aki introduced me in the auditorium, and I got recognized by the first few students - a couple of really nice people, who later became my friends, started introducing themselves and the school to me!
And the rest of the year, school was actually a lot of fun. During breaks, we often spent time in Kenno together, and it was a nice place to relax and talk.
Psychology turned out to be a really interesting subject, and I enjoyed diving into the topics we covered - especially because it's something we don't have as a subject in Germany, so I enjoyed it even more!
Throughout the year, I learned a lot - not just about Finland, but also about myself and how I deal with new situations.
And I think Muuramen Lukio was a great environment for this year that ended way too quickly!!! So, kiitos paljon for letting me stay here for this great year!
Aava ja Saara Mistral Boréal- vaihto Ranskaan syksyllä 2023
Bon voyage
Lokakuun koleuden saapuessa Suomeen, kohosi meidän lentokoneemme nokka kohti Etelä-Ranskan aurinkoisia rantoja. Kolme viikkoa kului Ranskan toiseksi suurimmassa kaupungissa Marseillessa ja sen läheisessä pienemmässä kaupungissa Aubagnessa. Ensimmäinen viikko meni enemmän tai vähemmän host-perheisiin tutustumiseen, kulttuurierojen ja uuteen kouluelämään tottumiseen. Saimme tutustua Ranskan lukioon ja huomata eroja sen ja omamme välillä. Tapasimme paljon ihania ihmisiä ja saimme uusia ystäviä. Lähes kuukausi ranskan kielen ympäröimänä antoi lisää sekä kielitaitoa että motivaatiota uuden kielen oppimiseen.
Kun taas marraskuu koitti, saimme vieraaksemme Emman ja Ninan. Heidän ja meidän onneksemme vaihtoaika ei ollut pimeä, sillä lunta oli jo tullut huomattavasti. Teimme paljon yhdessä heidän vaihdon aikana ja he saivat myös tutustua meidän kavereihimme koulussa ja sen ulkopuolella. Esittelimme heille Jyväskylää, kävimme museoissa ja vietimme viimeisen viikonlopun tutustuen Helsinkiin. Majoituimme uusien ystäviemme eli muiden suomalaisten luona, jotka osallistuivat vaihtoon. Tutustutimme ranskalaiset ystävämme suomalaiseen kulttuuriin muun muassa myös hiihdon, luistelun ja saunan merkeissä. Vaikka hostaaminen paljastuikin yllättävän rankaksi, oli se silti hauskaa ja ainutlaatuinen kokemus.
Vaihto oli upea ja uskomaton kokemus, vaikka olikin lyhyt. Aluksi jännitti ihan hirveästi ja jopa pelotti erilaiset asiat, kuten riittääkö kielitaito tai minkälaiset ihmiset siellä on vastassa (tai voimmeko juoda Etelä-Ranskan hanavettä). Päivä päivältä kuitenkin tottui eri kieleen ja kulttuuriin. Oli hauska tuoda Emmalle ja Ninalle Suomi ja suomalaisuus tutuksi. Olemme suunnattoman iloisia, että uskalsimme lähteä mukaan koko vaihtoon, sillä se antoi meille hurjasti.

I'm Emma, a french student. I came in Finland the last November and despite the weather shock I had an incredible experience.
I loved discovering finnish lifestyle and its specialities like the sauna, the brand Marimekko, also Alvar Aalto architecture...
Moreover this exchange has helped me to improve my spoken english.
In fact, talking with Saara who is fluent permitted me to practice!
To finish I would like just to say thank you to Saara and everybody who I met in Finland for this wonderful experience!

My stay in Finland was magical! I think about it all the time. Your school is great! The relationship you have with your teachers is incredible (especially with Heli ❤️😻❤️). The school is in a really nice location. In short, I loved it!

Hello! Here is Madda,
I’ve lived 5 months as an italian exchange student in Muurame.
Before my arrival there I was so scared because actually I didin’t know anything about finland culture and people there so I was so shocked my first days there in Finland, it was so different compared to the culture in Italy!
As soon as I arrived I spent my days understanding how to approach to this new culture and to the cold weather because even though it was just September I remember it seemed like a normal winter temperature in Italy.
I remember my first day at school like it was yesterday. My first class was psychology and the moment I entered my first thought was how light were my classmate’s hair!
Right after I remember me standing in front of the class trying to be calm and funny while inside I was freaking out, but now that my experience is ended I ask to my friends how I seemed during the first class… they always say that I looked so comfortable in that situation!!!
Anyway my experience in Finland has been the best thing that happened in my life, just like a dream. I left a peace of my heart in Finland and and all the memories there have a place in my heart either.
I have a memory with everyone, from the saddest to the funniest, from the most awkward to the most pleasant…
I’ve seen scenarios I’ve never seen before, I’ve felt emotions I’ve never felt before. I’ve lived a life I couldn’t even imagine and this thanks to my host famiy, my friends, my classmates, my teachers and all the school personal.
I’ve lived a dream and I didn’t want to wake up!
Nici, Itävalta + Marianna, Muurame 2022 (six weeks exchange)
Finland-Austria Exchange
In January 2022 we received Nici Steinhuber from Austria to spend six weeks with us.
Nici:
At first I was afraid of doing an exchange, but it was an opportunity not to be missed. And all the worries were for nothing! My host family too was never anything else than welcoming and nice.
I loved the food too, and especially enjoyed Laskiaspulla, while Salmiakki is something that tasted rather … interesting.
Coming back to Austria was not easy after such a nice stay, but it was not a goodbye for long, as my host-sister Marianna arrived a month later in Austria. And having her here was a real treat! We visited Austria’s most beautiful places, some of which even I hadn’t seen before. All good things have to come to an end however, but I’ll always remember these past weeks.
Marianna:
I arrived in Austria’s spring in the beginning of April. I was excited to leave the cold Finland behind but to my surprise I brought the snowy weather with me to Austria. But of course that wasn’t a problem for me and I got to make one of my dreams true which was to go skiing in the Alps. The Alps were very impressive and the beautiful mountain scenery was visible from my “hometown” Stadl-Paura and my host school Hak Lambach too.
Luckily to me who had packed mostly summer clothing with me the weather turned very warm approaching the end of my stay. Alongside all the other things I got to experience we went hiking, saw the city and swam in the pool.
During the time of about six weeks I challenged myself to do some intense language learning and actually managed to learn quite some German which was very rewarding. It was amazing to get to know the culture and prove wrong the stereotypes I had about it.
