Muuramen lukiossa opiskeli lukuvuonna 2025-2026 kaksi vaihto-opiskelijaa: John Thomas Hillard Ohiosta Yhdysvalloista ja Myrtille Eyssautier-Bavay Lyonista Ranskasta. Kaksi Muuramen lukion opiskelijaa oli puolestaan vaihdossa Yhdysvalloissa ja yksi opiskelija Kanadassa.

My exchange year in Finland

During the 10 months of exchange, I made many unforgettable memories. I came to Muurame as an exchange student in August. Coming from France, many things were different here but the welcoming atmosphere made it easier to adapt. The Finnish school system differs from what I’m used to. I liked the relaxed atmosphere here and that the days were shorter in comparison to France. Also, I enjoyed the different traditions you have here such as Wanhojen tanssit or Penkkarit. I got to participate in the Wanhojen tanssit which was truly an amazing experience.
During my free time, I got the chance to discover Finland: I visited Lapland and Helsinki and other places during my stay here. I especially enjoyed the beautiful winter landscapes and I’m really happy that I saw the aurora borealis for the first time in my life.
Through the year, not only did I improve my English skills, but I also learned a lot about myself. I’m sure that I will carry these memories always with me.
