eCraft2Learn in english

Welcome!

Here’s a short version of eCraft2Learn. It’s made for use in a Work Shop for teachers. You’ll find two eCraft2Learn orientation excercises too. For more detailed information about eCraft2Learn, please visit the official website:https://project.ecraft2learn.eu

Digital fabrication and maker movement in education

The eCraft2Learn project is (or was) a EU funded project, wich researched and validated an ecosystem based on digital fabrication and making technologies for creating computer-supported artefacts. It’s focused for learners 13-17 years old and their teacher/instructors/coaches.

The eCraft2Learn is an integrated learning ecosystem that provides tools, support and training for innovative learning through craft based pedagogical approach in STEAM education.

It’s base is in personalized learning and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). The eCraft2Learn has three main objectives: pedagogical, technical and business.

Pedagogical objectives

  • Developing innovation management techniques needed to support craft- and project-based learning
  • Developing a different approach to STEAM education
  • Enabling communication and collaboration through online support community platform
  • Developing the integration of an eCraft2Learn curriculum into already existing STEAM

Technical objectives

  • Facilitating positive changes in attitudes towards education in science, technology, engineering, arts and math
  • Allowing learners to use breakthrough technologies for learning, for example 3D technologies (modeling, visualisation, simulation and printing)
  • Support the teachers with real-time analytics containing information of work progress of each learner, and data from previous sessions

Business objectives

  • Enabling and making sustainable networks of collaboration among industry
  • enabling learners to become project-solving, ambitiously thinking entrepreuneurs
  • increasing awareness on the need for digital fabrication and making technologies in education through industry-academy led workshops

The eCraft2Learn concept

The main concept is based on premises of learning by makeing; DIY (do-it-yourself). The roots are on the Constructive theory of knowledge and the educational theory.

1. IDEA

- Exploring the internet for the physical observations of the phenomena, discussing with others
- Brainstorming

2. PLANNING

- Understanding:
  • What type of knowledge do I have?
  • What kind of knowledge do I need?
- What resources are available and needed for the realization of their idea

MAKEING PROCESS:
- Includes more brainstorming and trials and errorS

3. DESIGNING

- 3D printing
- Interactive artefacts
- Recycled materials
- Common tools

4. AI TOOLS

- Educational Extensions (services in the cloud

5. PROJECT/IDEA SHARING

- Open community of practice (powered by Arduino)
