Project Summary

Migrations - broadcasting a new outlook is a two-year Erasmus+ KA2 project starting September 2016. The schools involved are
- Ivalon lukio (Ivalo Upper Secondary School) from Ivalo, Finland
- I.M.S. "Regina Margherita" from Palermo, Italy
The two schools represent Mediterranean and Northern Europe as well as large and small schools. The project aims at combining a current topic with a modern tool: migration in Europe and web radio broadcasts.
Students will understand the history of Europeans as migratory population, the causes and consequences of modern migration and the situation of the refugees, and how this all affects our lives in different parts of Europe. In addition, they will learn how to communicate their ideas via online radio broadcasts, how to do research and make interviews. They will improve their group work skills, English and ICT skills, as well. Students will get a broader view of life in Europe when attending project meetings, a deeper insight in school systems in different countries, a better understanding of the situation of refugees and migrants, and receive knowhow in digital radio work.
