Early learners' sea posters

Dear friends
When we started working on the sea theme we couldn't imagine that the 1st grade pupils of our school would present us this poster with picturesque images of  little islands scattered around the Greek archipelago:
~white houses with blue doors and windows
~crazy windmills and white churches with blue domes
~ little fishing boats sailing across the Aegean Sea
~the sun rising and setting gifting our country with this unique light
They were inspired by a poem which is in their Language book this year, written by Odysseas Elytis, an important Greek poet and Nobel Prize Laureate who praised  the Aegean Sea and its culture  more than anything else in his poems.

Here are just a few lyrics of this poem written on the poster as well:

" Η Παναγιά το πέλαγο κρατούσε στην ποδιά της,
τη Σίκινο, την Αμοργό και τ' άλλα τα παιδιά της
......  .........  ...........  .............
Ο βασιλιάς ο Ήλιος ζει;
-Ζει και ζει και ζει ....

 " Holy Mary held the sea in her arms
Sikinos, Amorgos and her other children *  (islands)
-Does the Sun,the king live?
- He lives and lives and lives...."

This project was completed with the help of the Art teacher of our school, cross-curricularly with the Language class.
