Kirkkomännikkö school

Kirkkomännikkö elementary school is situated in Alavus, western Finland. We have a little under 400 pupils and 40 teachers / assistants. We also have two cleaning ladies, and school canteen staff.



Following the national curriculum, we study religion, Finnish, science, Swedish (also an official language in Finland), English, history, maths, social studies, physical education, music and art.

In addition, 4th and 5th grade pupils choose two of the following optional subjects: home economics, camping, swimming, ball games and crafts.

6th grade students choose three optional subjects from computer science, PE, playing in a band, traditional crafts, and art.



Our school is named Kirkkomännikkö after a church (kirkko) and a small pine forest (männikkö) next to our school. Our school was renovated in 2010. It consists of two buildings which are connected with a hallway. We also have a swimming hall, indoor ice rink, track and sports field and baseball field close to our school.
