Olen koonnut alle muutamia usein toistuvia kirjoitelmatyyppejä viimeisten vuosien ajalta. Listaus ei kata kaikkea mahdollista, mutta antaa ainakin jonkinlaista valmiutta koetta varten!

1) OMAKOHTAINEN AIHE

Write a guest post to the BBC’s Learning English blog discussing some of your experiences with unfamiliar words.

1.3 "The tools from school"

You will be leaving school in a few months. […] it is time to summarize your thoughts and experiences. How has general upper secondary school prepared you for the future?

1.4 "What does music do to you?"

You participate in a survey where you are asked to describe how you make use of music in your daily life. Write your text as an answer to the question: What does music do to you?

-Tämän tyyppisessä tehtävässä sinua pyydetään kuvailemaan jotakin oman elämäsi osa-aluetta tai vastaamaan aiheeseen liittyviin kysymyksiin.

-Kaikkiin kysymyksiin ei yleensä vaadita vastausta, mutta vastaa vähintään muutamaan. Pyri käsittelemään aihetta monipuolisesti.

2) MIELIPIDEKIRJOITELMA

2.1 "Reading habits are dying – or are they? "

“… Your school is participating in a global data gathering project on young people’s thoughts on this issue. Write a text presenting your views.”

2.2 "Sustainable travel"

Write a paper on sustainable travel for the International Youth Forum. […] present your views and possible solutions for sustainable travel. 

2.3 "International Year of Plant Health: what it means to me"

The year 2020 is the International Year of Plant Health. Write an opinion piece to an online newspaper on the topic.

2.4 "Opinion piece on military service "

The Finnish Conscripts’ Union is gathering young people’s opinions about general conscription.[…] What do you think and why? Write your text to the union stating and arguing for your opinion.

-Jos sinulta vaaditaan omaa mielipidettä tai näkemystä (opinion/view), pelkkä aiheesta yleisesti kirjoittaminen ei riitä (esim. selität mihin suuntaan asepalvelus on kehittymässä ja miten aiheesta on julkisuudessa keskusteltu).

-Mielipide kannattaa myös perustella.

-Oman mielipiteen puuttuminen johtaa pistevähennyksiin! (esim. 10 pistettä)

Write a fairy tale. […] It can be a tale of your own or a re-telling of an existing tale with an original twist of your own.

3.3 "Ghost story"

-Tarjoaa taitavalle ja mielikuvitusta omaavalle kirjoittajalle unelma-aiheen

-Samalla vapaa aihe houkuttelee kuitenkin kirjoittamaan nopeasti ”mitä sylki suuhun tuo”. Tällainen kirjoitelma on suunniteltava erityisen tarkkaan, koska esim. suuntaa antavia apukysymyksiä ei ole.

- Huolehdi, että tarinassa on juoni ja rakenne, että siinä on jonkinlainen ”pointti”, loppuhuipennus tai opetus.

-Vie tarinaa tiiviisti eteenpäin äläkä jaarittele liikaa. Elävä kuvailu ja monipuolinen sanasto ovat eduksi!

4) HAKUKIRJE
4.1 "Motivational letter"

You are applying to universities in the UK, and you need to include a motivational letter in your application. In the letter you should:

• briefly describe your previous study experience and what you have learnt from it
• discuss your strengths and weaknesses
• convince the reader why you would be the right kind of student for their institution

5) KIRJE

5.1 "The next innovation that will change the world"

What will be the next innovation that will change our lives and the world we live in?

Write to an online magazine Future Forecasts and describe the innovation that you see coming and how it will change our everyday life.

5.2 You have read an article of a grandmother who became an activist.

Write a Letter to the Editor taking a stand either in favour of or against this kind of activism.

6) BLOGIPOSTAUS

6.1 "Blog postcard"

[…] In the blog postcard, the students should briefly describe their studies there and the target culture in general and compare them with their home country. Write your blog postcard.

6.2 "Vaccinations – good or bad?"

Are you for or against vaccinations? Write a blog post where you give reasons for your opinion.

6.3 "It’s a small world."

This is a point we often make when we realise, for instance, that we have something in common with a new acquaintance, or when we experience something we have faced before. Write a blog post on how you have noticed that it is indeed a small world.

-Kannattaa huomioida mahdollinen kohdeyleisö jotenkin, siis kenelle kirjoitat. Paljon riippuu blogin tyypistä. Esim. henkilökohtaisessa harrasteblogissa voit pyytää palautetta tms.

-Muuten ei yleensä vaadita mitään ihmeempiä muotoseikkoja, kuten esim. kirjeessä.

7) PUHE

7.1 Your school is organizing a theme week on Active Citizenship. You’ve been asked to give a talk on how one person can make a difference and change the world.

 

7.2 You are giving a speech at your graduation event to all the new graduates. Your topic is Future Working Life. Write your speech using the ideas from the mind map. You should include at least three of the main themes in your speech.

-Tehtävässä 7.2 vaaditaan käyttämään lisäaineistoa pistemenetyksen uhalla. Ole siis tarkkana ja lue tehtävänanto huolella!

-Muista puheen muotoseikat, etenkin aloitus ja lopetus (“Hi/Good afternoon”, “Thank you for listening” ym.). Sävyn muodollisuus riippuu yleisöstä ja tilanteen virallisuudesta.

-Puhe kannattaa yleensä pitää selkeänä, niin ettei varsinainen aihe, jota halutaan painottaa, huku monimutkaisiin lauserakenteisiin.

-Muista, että puhe on tarkoitettu kuunneltavaksi. Sen ei ole tarkoitus olla niin hankala, että kuulijan pitää tarkastaa paperiversiosta mitä sanoit.
