  1. At the exhibition
You have been asked to give a speech at the opening of a photography exhibition at a local gallery. The photographer is a young man from Turku, who has just returned from a big exhibition of his work in San Francisco. He specializes in nature photography, and he is a known member of Greenpeace.
  2.  Watching music
“I don’t make music for eyes. I make music for ears.” (Adele)
Many people claim that music nowadays is all about show, what the artist looks like, and how the concert is presented, rather than the music itself. The personal life and style of singers get almost as much attention as their music does. Write an essay expressing your thoughts on the matter.
  3.  Short story
Write a short story. Choose one of the following titles.
    - Why I’m here.
    - The day I had everything.
    - The pool.
  4. Is it art?
Write a review of an art exhibition you have seen. Mention who the artists were, what type of art it was, where it was, and what you liked or disliked about it.
  5.  Violence in films
You think that graphic violence in films has a bad influence on people. None of your friends seem to have a problem with it, but you feel sick every time you have to watch excessive violence on screen.
Write a letter of complaint to a newspaper’s online letter page, explaining your point of view.
  6.  Doing it all over
Imagine that you could time travel, but only during your own life. Think about your life so far, and the choices that you have made. What would you change, do differently, if you had the chance to do it again?
  7.  Up
“In the future, we may never come down to the ground at all. We will work, sleep and play high above the ground, where the air is clean.”
Write a descriptive essay about what the cities of the future might look like. What will our lives be like? What things do you think will be similar, and what will be different from how we live today?
  8. Hero or villain?
While babysitting a young child, you watch a movie. The hero in the film is the good guy, but she (or he) kills a lot of people. The child is confused. Is the hero a good person or a bad person? You try to explain to the child why the hero is behaving like that.
