The Tuulikello School

InTuulikello school pupils are taught the fundamentals for everyday life and positive living. These skills become fundamentally useful for anything from progressing into further studies, working life or simply managing social and leisure activities.

The school provides education designed for individual’s needs and emphasises on communication, expression and functional learning.

Our school

Our school is one of the four Special Needs Schools in Pori. The majority of pupils are from Pori itself with a number of students from around the county close to the city.

The school provides individually-designed teaching for children who have different types and levels of disability and/or neurological developmental disorders. The 11-year curriculum program comprises of 2 years of pre-school and 9 years of basic schooling (classes from 1 to 9) which forms the compulsory education.

Each class is has pupils of varying skill levels and capabilities..

The school’s curriculum, teaching methods, grounds of assessment and daily functions are based on The Law and Commandment of the comprehensive school system provided by The Department of Education.

The teaching in our school is based on a fully comprehensive system combining various subjects with practical and functional methods of learning.

The teaching and syllabus of the subjects are individualised for each pupil; everyone gets a personal plan of education.

School ethos and values

All the work is based on the classical values of kindness, truth and beauty.

The kindness manifests itself through willingness and action, objectively aiming for a more ethical way of life. The truth is shown as logical, artistic and true to life way of thinking, reaching for inner honesty. Beauty appears through emphatic and aesthetic awareness and feeling.

The principle morals of honor, trust and respect are the fundamental values seen throughout all the daily activities in our school.

In everyday life basic values appear as:

safeness and security, joy and positivity,

low-pressure aesthetic experiences,

relaxed atmosphere, promoting self reliance/motivation and independence,

open-mindedness, honesty and flexibility.
