ENA4.6: Society and the surrounding world
The themes of this course are health, crime, politics, community service and different societies. What problems are we facing in everyday life and what solutions are there? You will learn how to express your opinions and defend your own view and tell about your beliefs as well.

Chapters: 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 + glossaries on society and health care, crime and justice, and politics
Kielioppi: apuverbit, indefiniittipronominit, relatiivipronominit ja kansallisuussanat
We are learning new vocabulary by doing exercises and with the help of reading comprehension, oral exercises, listening and group work. We are going to have wordtests on the glossaries. We are also going to write a letter. (A letter to the editor, instructions Learning to learn 5).
Evaluation: Everything you do on the course will affect the grade. All areas of language competence are included in the evaluation. This course emphasises writing and reading comprehension skills. Oral skills and activity in class contribute approx. 30 % to the final grade. In the course test, grammar and vocabulary make about 40 % of the grade, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and writing about 20% each.
