8F/Autumn 2025: Your sleep habits - Questions

Homework from Wednesday 13 August for Tuesday 19 August, 2025

Think about your own sleep habits. First answer these questions in your notebook, then discuss with your partner!

  1. What time do you usually go to bed on school days?
  2. What is the reason why you usually go to ged at that particular time? (eg. Do you feel sleepy? Do your parents tell you to go to bed? etc.)
  3. What kind of things do you do during the last few hours before going to bed? Do you think those activities help you fall asleep more easily or prevent you from falling asleep (ie. make you more alert)?
  4. On school days, after you go to bed at night, how long does it usually take you to fall asleep?
  5. Do you feel it’s easy or difficult for you to fall asleep quickly? If difficult, what do you think is the reason? What do you do when you notice that sleep won’t come? Does that activity then help you to fall asleep?
  6. What time do you usually wake up on school days? How many hours of sleep do you get on average per night (on school days)? Do you think that’s enough?
  7. Is it easy or difficult for you to wake up and get out of bed in the mornings on school days? If difficult, why do you think that is? How do you usually feel once you have got out of bed? Sleepy or alert?
  8. Are your sleeping schedules/routines consistent throughout the whole school week or do they vary a lot from day to day?
  9. Are your sleeping schedules very different at weekends compared to school days? How? Why?
  10. Do you often wake up during the night? If so, do you know why that happens? If you wake up, is it easy for you to fall back asleep quickly? What do you do when you notice that it's difficult to fall back to sleep?
  11. Do you often feel sleepy during daytime? If so, how big of a problem is it for you? (Eg. You struggle to stay awake at school. / You have trouble concentrating on studying or doing your homework. / You fall asleep, without intending to, while watching a programme /listening to music etc. at home.
  12. Do you ever nap after school? If so, how long are your naps? Can they be so long that they prevent you from falling asleep at night?
  13. Ideally, what would be the best time for you for school to start? (8:00 am? 9 am? 10 am?)
  14. What is the time of day when you feel most alert /most energetic?
  15. All in all, do you think your sleep habits are in order ie. do you get enough sleep? If not, what kind of things could you try and do differently?
