Kerjäläisperhe maantiellä - Robert Wilhelm Ekmanin

Tekijä: Verneri Kesti
Robert Wilhelm Ekmanin teos Kerjäläisperhe maantiellä (1860) voisi kertoa myös nykypäivän Euroopasta.
Robert Wilhelm Ekmanin was a prominent painter and teacher of Finnish romantic portrait painting and early national romance. This image is not one of her most famous works, but I chose this because of its message. The picture shows a poor woman with two children. The image clearly focuses on them. The artist is probably trying to show what kind of life the poor have to live. This pictures massage to be very timely.

I agree that the message in the painting is very timely. On other hand poverty is probably always a topical issue. I think the artist has made the artwork look especially gloomy. A blue-gray background and slightly sad faces create a dismal atmosphere. In my opinion in addition to poverty, the artwork shows among other things single parenthood and the status of women. Because of them, I think the painting has many important intention. It can give the viewer support and comfort if life is tough.

This painting and painter were new to me. I think that this painting looks kinda sad but I also think that it is painted very well. Paintings message is also sad and I agree with you that it is timely. I like how the painter has used mostly brown colors and the colors fit really well to this.
