News Report - 25 % of the course grade
- politics / Education / Sports / Science and technology / Traffic / Environment /Culture / topic of your choice
- Find at least three news stories on the subject area of your choice to get different angles on your topic.
- Devise an oral report on your subject. Use keywords instead of whole sentences in your notes.
- Think of 2 follow-up questions on the topic for the group to discuss.
Presentation of a NGO OR an effective commercial/advert - 25 % of the grade
- Choose a nonprofit organization based on your own interest. Nonprofit organizations include charities, sports clubs and, museums, the UN organizations (WHO, UNICEF), health organizations etc.
- Find out what the organization does and why.
- Make sure to answer at least the questions "who, what, when, where, how and why" in your report.
- Present the organization to the group using keywords (instead of whole sentences).
- Where is the organization based and where and when was it founded?
- What is the core area of the organization?
- Does the organization have any political or religious affiliations?
- How does the organization operate and who runs it?
- How is fundraising organized?
- What are its success stories? Can you name a celebrity who is involved in the work of the organization?
You can use slides to give structure to your presentation.
The length of your presentation should be approximately 5 minutes. (Preferably a bit over rather than under 5 minutes.)
