Assessment Criteria

Kurssiarvosanaan vaikuttaa tunnilla työskentely:
- se, miten aktiivisesti osallistuu harjoituksiin
- se, miten tukee muiden harjoitusten onnistumista
- kurssitöiden palauttaminen ajallaan

Opetushallitukselta saatava todistus englannin suullisesta kielitaidosta arvioidaan tätä asteikkoa noudattaen:

Ääntäminen vaikuttaa omalta osaltaan siihen, kuinka sujuvaa ja ymmärrettävää puhe on. Tästä syystä myös ääntäminen vaikuttaa opetushallituksen kielitodistukseen. Tässä on ääntämisen arviointikriteerit:

News Report - 25 % of the course grade

Choose a subject area:
  • politics / Education / Sports / Science and technology / Traffic / Environment /Culture / topic of your choice
  • Find at least three news stories on the subject area of your choice to get different angles on your topic.
  • Devise an oral report on your subject. Use keywords instead of whole sentences in your notes.
  • Think of 2 follow-up questions on the topic for the group to discuss.

Presentation of a NGO OR an effective commercial/advert - 25 % of the grade

  • Choose a nonprofit organization based on your own interest. Nonprofit organizations include charities, sports clubs and, museums, the UN organizations (WHO, UNICEF), health organizations etc.
  • Find out what the organization does and why.
  • Make sure to answer at least the questions "who, what, when, where, how and why" in your report.
  • Present the organization to the group using keywords (instead of whole sentences).
Here are some other content questions to help devise the report:
  • Where is the organization based and where and when was it founded?
  • What is the core area of the organization?
  • Does the organization have any political or religious affiliations?
  • How does the organization operate and who runs it?
  • How is fundraising organized?
  • What are its success stories? Can you name a celebrity who is involved in the work of the organization?

You can use slides to give structure to your presentation. 
The length of your presentation should be approximately 5 minutes. (Preferably a bit over rather than under 5 minutes.)
