Mona Lisa -Leonardo da Vinci

Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings in the world. It is an oil painting made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503. The painting depicts a mysteriously smiling woman. The painting is located in the Louvre in Paris where it is seen by six million people a year. It is one of the art world's most iconic images.

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian scientist, mathematician, engineer, anatomist, inventor, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician and author. He is considered the greatest painter and th most talented person of all time. Leonardo did the painting for years and completed it in 1507.

The techniques that is used in Mona Lisa are very fascinating. The technique which is used fot the painting is known as sfumato. It is a method of painting in which shades of color are softened and fused together.

I chose this painting because I was very interested about why it is so famous. And I got my answers to that. It is evidence of the Leonardo da Vinci's mastery of human anatomy and natural realism. I can see that in the painting.

The painting is cropped that it shows a woman and the landscape behind it. In my opinion the artist wants the focus to be on the woman's mysterious smile. Also the landscape behind the woman is also beautifully done with warm colors to frame the painting.

The message of this painting is that it is a visual representation of the idea of happiness. It comes from the Italian word suggested "gioconda" which means happy. Leonardo decited to make this his central motif of the portrait.

Ah, the classics. Da Vinci painted it for several years but it finally it was worth it. The worth of that drawing is TREMENDOUS. According to Google it is worth even up to 870 million dollars. This painting even has history, it got stolen over 100 years ago and when it was found, the worth of this painting exploded. Your choice is common and I don't blame you, it is mysterious, interesting and phenomenal work of art! The landscapes are blending to the painting like a poem to my head.
