This painting is called The Starry Night and it’s made by Vincent van Gogh. This painting was made in France in 1889 when Van Gogh was in mental hospital. The starry night is one of the Goghs most famous work. Van Gogh is nowdays known as one of the most important artist.  

The Starry Night is made with oil paints and you can see the painting in Museum of Modern Art in New York. 

I chose this painting because I think it’s really beautiful and I like the way how it’s made. I like how Van Gogh used many different techniques when painting this. This painting is really beautiful because there isn’t too much going around. There is only few important elements. 

When you look at the painting you can see a high dark building and under it you can see a village. There is also blue sky where you can see moon and some stars. Van Gogh used mostly blue, yellow and dark colours in this painting.  

I am not sure about the meaning of this painting. It could symbolize a peace because it looks like it is night and at night it’s usually peaceful.
