Passing Through (Can't the Future Just Wait) by Kaden MacKay

Tekijä: Salem Wild
Can't the future just wait?
Can't the deadlines come fashionably late?
I could push every goal back
Take control back

If they'd roll back the rate

At which time starts to fly
Never landing or standing by
Never taking a break
Ever making me retry
We "nickel-and-dime" every "quarter to two"
But maybe it's time to let time pass through

If the future is bright

It doesn't shine with that "end of the tunnel" light
More like a deer in the headlights
Sudden red lights
Or "you're dead" lights
As the anglerfish bite

It's not fair

The past is clear but it's clear back there
What's ahead? No one knows
But it's closing in, we swear
Still not in my prime, I have so much to do
But maybe it's time to let time pass through

I can't just rewrite decisions when life gets strange

Should I go with my gut on which door I should shut?
I'm unsure
I'd keep exploring this rut
But what good is time without change?

Move on

'Cause things never last
Just move on
'Cause it goes too fast and the past has passed
So move on
No one likes an ending
So what's with the attention we keep on giving them?

Why are we still spending so much time

Dreading our lives instead of living them?
Why do we try to divert the river
When the water is what will deliver us where we need to go?

We may never know why

Time is always in limited supply
But we'll live to regret it
If we get it
And then let it slip by
It can never rewind

Once you've lost it, it's hard to find

Take the journey in stride
When your plans have been sidelined
Every hourly chime could begin something new
So maybe it's time to let time pass through

Not passing by, but passing through

'Til the well runs dry
Just passing through

This is of my favourite songs because it's got a great tune but the lyrics are relatable.

In this song, the singer talks about his wish to stop time, or slow it down just for a moment, but slowly coming to terms with it.

We often feel overwhelmed by how much we have to do in a short amount of time. As time passes, you feel helpless and powerless as you sense that you're falling behind and that your time is being wasted.

Our fears of the future often hold us back from doing the things we want, but we must accept the passing of time.
We will only waste more time by focusing on what has already been lost.
You can't turn back time, once it has passed, there's never a second chance.

Although I did not learn any new words, the singer does have an easily understandable accent.

When I started listening to this song I was confused how rhythmic it was. The faster part in the middle of the song also made me confused. I think the song has an important message about today's life because people are constantly really busy and stressed. It would be good for people to be able to just stop sometimes. Burnout is a big problem today. I think time cannot be wasted and sometimes it's good to just take a break. There are many good questions in this song, such as "Dreading our lives instead of living them?" and "Can't the future just wait?" Those questions also make me think about my own life choices. This is a great and fascinating song.

I hadn't heard this song before but by the lyrics I had really different image of it in my mind. When I listened to the song, I was almost shocked because it was nothing like what I had expected. I think it was actually better than what I had thought and I liked it very much! The lyrics of this song are very fitting to this hectic society that we're living in so I think that you are right when you say that the lyrics are relatable. I agree that we should accept the time passing and just do the things we like. I also think that the part of your analysis where you say "We will only waste more time by focusing on what has already been lost" is very good and right.

This song has an important message that I didn't even notice at first but I totally agree when you say this song is relatable.
I like how the lyrics are very clear and easily understandable. They sharpen the meaning by telling what the song is about from many views which I think is quite rare among songs.
I also think that your analysis is very good and opens this song amazingly. I know this kind of wasting time is personally for me a big problem and it really hitted me when you tell here in your text: "We will only waste more time by focusing on what has already been lost."
