Candy Store - Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alice Lee, Elle McLemore (Heathers)
Woah, this song is really something that I usually do not listen. But as normally musicals do, this part of one is stunning and gives something to think about.
I listened this song few times because it wasn't easy to get into the situation at first. But then I started to think the lyrics and thought that maybe there's a small piece of truth within it while the show keeps going on.
For me it seems that this song is trying to express the pressure teenagers have in school while trying to fit in. And the anxiety they may have along the choice (that they think they have to do - which is not true) between popularity and being themselves with their friends.
I have never seen the musical but you have opened the scene so well that even I can get the headpoints of what's happening. For me, your analysis is easy to understand and I am impressed of those many adjectives you use to tell about the music and the vibe it gives.
