Hays School is building a Tiny House

Planning Phase

At this point, Hays School students are in the planning phase of building a Tiny House. This house will involve students from Grades 4-9, and they will be involved in all stages of construction, from planning, to gathering materials, to construction and finishing. They will be advised and led by Mrs. Duckett and Mr. Kenney. More to come!

Building Strong Communities

The Humbolt Broncos were on their way to a hockey game when a semi truck collided with their bus. On April 6th, the devistating crash killed 16 people and injured 13 more. Canada united to celebrate the lives of those lost and collectively raised over $10 million for the victims and their families.

Hays School did their part too. Students and staff gathered in their jerseys on April 12th to show their support. The school hosted a bake sale and sweets were made by students, staff and community members. Hays raised just over $880 to be donated.

There is nothing stronger than communities bonding in a time of need. We are thankful to have the love and support from one another, all across this beautiful country.

Welcome to Spring - and Floods!

We have seen so much snow this winter and as temperatures rise, so do the flood waters. Today, all busses to Hays (and many in the division) were cancelled as rural roads are deteriorating due to flooding. Although this is an unfortunate situation for many residents, it is an opportunity to teach students about staying safe and taking care of our environment.
