People in Ancient Egypt ate garlic, green vegetables, dates, onion, fish, birds, eggs, cheese, butter, lentil, figs, cucumbers, bread. The bread was sweetened with dates, figs and honey. They also had yeast bread. They were not allowed to eat pork in their religion but they were allowed to eat meat. They had a dessert made with bread, cream and honey and that did look like a cake. They did put grain in a big pot which was called an emmer and they used a tool to knock the bread. Then they did put the grain and rolled it on a stone. Then they used a big pot and add water to make the dough. They baked the bread in a oven.
Drinking
Beer was very common drink in ancient Egypt. Most of people did not want to drink water directly from the Nile. The ancient Egyptians had noticed that people became sick after drinking the water directly. So they started to drink beer which was made by barley. The beer did not have high alcohol, but it was very nutritional and was very important part of ancient Egyptians daily diet. It was safer than drinking water directly from Nile. The made a non-alcohol fruit drink from dates. They also liked to drink milk.
