Little chapel of a castle (nowadays the choir)
First church mentioned at 1300 in the middle of the cemetery, usual at those uncertain times. People from the village could escape from agressors to this safe place. Church enlaged in 1500 and 1700; nave became asymetric.

Altar

In the middle of the high altar you can see the Virgin Mary bodily taken up into Heaven at the end of her life. Assumption is a major festival in our village.

Minor altar

In most churches round Memmelsdorf and Bamberg you find the figures of holy Emporer Henry II. (left of the centeral picture) and his wife Kunigunde (on the right side), the founders of our archdiocese.
