Miinas school today

Miina today is clean, sporty and safe. The school has 263 students, 15 classes, 17 teachers, a principal, 10 assistents and 15 other staff members. Along with normal classes, Miina also has plinth classes, a cafeteria, a teacher`s lounge and a gymnastics hall that also works as a celebratory hall. The area for recess is not that big compared to the amount of students. The school has a football and a basketball court. Also two climbing frames, eight swings and a park area. The school owns a hill that is named Miinanmäki.

In our school we have a student council. The student council invents all kind of things to do for other students of the school. From every class, one official students gets selected as a member, and one gets selected to work as a substitute, in case the other can't show up or anything else. The members get vote d by their own class. The council also arranges a Miina Talent- contest. It has already been arranged twice and the third is being planned. The school is sporty, which is why some of the fifth and sixth graders have been trained to work as recessers. A recessers job is to invent games and play them on recesses. Students in the first grades get students from either the sixth or fifth grade as their school supportives. The supportives jobs are to take care of their assigned students, let them in on their games and be of help when it comes to school work. In our school the sixth graders throw fun parties and discos.

We also have different celebratory events, like during christmas and spring. Usually we celebrate and the principal holds a speech. Plays are not unusual, and they can involve singing and dancing. Scholarships and smile statues are given out at this time.
