Music School in brief

Music School in brief

At the Music School for children and youth, you can find a new hobby in playing instruments through individual or group lessons.

We provide basic art education according to the general curriculum.

Our teaching locations include: Palokka, Vaajakoski, Tikkakoski, and Korpilahti.

Individual lessons are available for a variety of instruments including: piano, violin, kantele, guitar, flute, drums, and accordion. Note: we do not have lessons for all instruments at all locations. Please see additional details on the Teaching locations page (Opetuspaikat).

Muskari: these musical groups are meant for the youngest members of the family; from toddlers to first graders. These classes include musical discovery through for example rhythm, nursery rhymes and songs. Teaching locations are in Palokka, Vaajakoski and Tikkakoski.

In our music groups, you can join other musical beginners and play different instruments to discover which you prefer. The music groups meet in Palokka and Korpilahti.

In MuHa classes, we learn about different theoretical music subjects such as fundamentals of music and musical theory (levels 1-3).

We organise gigs and performances throughout the academic year. You can hear the music school's soloists and instrumental ensembles of various sizes (from duos to bands) in a wide variety of performance arenas.

Come and listen to the performances and get to know more about our activities! We will inform you about the performances on the main page of the Music School’s Pedanet page in the Current section Ajankohtaista.

The application period for the Music School is from the 2nd of April to the 15th of May each year. New students can register for any of the above-mentioned groups or individual lessons. In the event that classes are full, you may join the waiting list and we will draw available places during the semester when space is available. Links for the application are in the Current section Ajankohtaista

Please contact Pirjo Linna at 040 777 8653 to ask about available places.

Our organising teachers will be happy to tell you about the possibilities the Music School can offer your child:
