Anti-racism workshop by Silja Talvi

The anti-racism workshop

The journalist and autor Silja Talvi hold an anti-racism workshop for our students. With help of some intresting statistics, youtube videos and texts we tryed to find out, why there is racism in our world, why it is so difficult to accept differences. In the end we filled out on questionairre of racism.

It was intresting to discuss for example, why Finns belong to one of the nationalities, that show less empathy towards other people. Empathy means that you have the ability to understand the other person's feelings and viewpoints. This result was from a quite new american study (2016, Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology).

In this research people, who are empathic are often gentle, understanding, generous, reliable and responsible. This research shows, that empathic people often react positivly to volunteer work and to helping other people.
