Expected results and potential long-term benefits: broadening knowledge and understanding of European culture, educational policies and practices; triggering
changes in terms of school modernization and internationalization; promoting European mobility activities for pupils and school staff, also in the long term.

How is participation in this activity going to benefit the involved participants? OSALLISTUJAN EDUT
Motivation and key citizenship competences of students increase during the project. The participants gain skills and competences in e-learning, digitalization and media criticism. Skills to produce presentations and short films will increase. Teachers involved gain more tools of teaching by adapting new technology (e-learning, learning by doing) to their normal work. New international contacts are important for students and teachers, as well. It is very rare to e.g. give presentation for big audience (Day 4) and produce short films (Day 5) during normal school activities in Finland and Germany. Thus, the project activities add students' team-work capabilities.

Summary

The aim of the project is to promote and study status of local heroes through learning activities. The initiative is an opportunity to add knowledge and awareness of the importance of mental stigma in social life, with a specific focus on the contribution of common opinion in the local communities. For instance, there were demonstrations against immigrants in Forssa some years ago, and the leaders of demonstrations played as heroes. Thus, our project "Heroes" aims to study the roles of local heroes of school students by motivating them for analyzing and comparing and discussing roles of their heroes.

The project has the significant aspects that characterize the context, taking into account the diversity of conditions and the role of heroes in the European partner countries.  The project aims to stimulate students to develop a range of skills to cope with our complex world in order to promote their personal growth, citizenship skills, preparation for the world of work and, above all, meet the interests of students and active participation.

The two partner schools are located in Germany and Finland. Number and profile of participants: about 50 students aged 15-19 years, and 6 teachers.
The school in Forssa/Finland is already experienced in the field of digitalization of its learning contents and methods and must therefore struggle more with the side effects of this. At the same time this school has extensive experience with international projects. The school on Satrup/Germany has also taken part to many international projects. Thus, it is supposed that the schools can implement the project succesfully.

The students will work in groups, on the theme "Heroes". The students then, with the support of the teachers, will create a publication which will be presented in the final conference. The materials produced will be computerized and disseminated through institutional websites, project website, e-twinning platform. All joint work activities will enable us to acquire and improve our skills, not only in the topic at the center of the project, but also in terms of teamwork, intercultural learning, social relations, and use of information technology and communication. During the meetings we will discuss by Hangout with Kenyan high schools students about the topics(Forssa school has many co-operative high schools in Kenya).

In the time between the exchanges the students of the schools will communicate with each other through the eTwinning platform and Hangout improving in this way their language and social competences. At schools b tween the meetings the students study the local heroes: Who they are? Which kind af persons are they? Are there antiheroes?

All activities will be aimed at developing a culture of equality, but also at encouraging an active presence in civil society, in the perspective that participation in social and political life is not only a right, but the duty of every responsible European citizen.

Expected results and potential long-term benefits are the follows: broadening knowledge and understanding of European countries, the mental stigmas of the societies educational policies and practices; promoting European mobility activities for pupils and school staff, and increasing motivation and improving students' key citizenship competences.

All these programmes will be documented in a way that they can easily be transferred and implemented in other schools and the benefits of this project can be widely disseminated. The themes of the project will be explored in the European context, through collaboration and interaction in a multicultural environment, so as to expand the skills of teachers who, thanks to this project, will exchange good educational practices.

Questions

Please describe the motivation for your project and explain why it should be funded.
On the basis of the positive experiences made by both schools in the past Erasmus+ - project “Unity in Diversity“ we want to continue our intercultural exchange with the new project “Heroes“ in order to create sustainability. There are many interested students in both countries who learn and profit a lot from each other when dealing together with some of the many challenges of our time. Some of them have already participated in the Fridays for Future movement, some feel angry about right-wing nationalism and racism gaining more political power, and others are still uncertain about their personal development in a digital world to name just a few. The ability to discuss about opinions and deal with emotions are very important topics especially in Forssa area, where the sosioeconomic status of families is lower than on average in Finland. Thus the question about the heroes in our times remains to be answered.

What are the objectives you would like to achieve and concrete results you would like to produce? How are these objectives linked to the priorities you have selected?
The people involved in this project will sharpen their focus on social problems in general and in particular. They learn how to identify the reasons and to discuss solutions for different phenomena. By looking on and dealing with them they should see these problems as a challenge and will come to appreciate real heroes. Above all a critical mindfulness should be achieved as top priority.
The results of the project can be presented individually (e.g. film, cartoon, panel discussion, exhibition, poetry slam, song-writing, etc.) to the public.

How are the planned activities going to lead to achievement of the project's objectives ?
While visiting the partner-countries each student will gain many topic-related experiences by living in a host family and thus witnessing an intensive cultural exchange and comparing the impacts on everyday life In different environments automatically. Moreover, the topical workshops will offer the opportunity to deal with different targets of the project. Finally, every participant will have learned a responsible handling of the current issue he/she has dealt with by interacting and a critical analysis of different phenomena.
The students will work in groups on the theme "Heroes". The students then, with the support of the teachers, will create a publication which will be presented in the final conference. During the meetings we will discuss by Hangout with Kenyan high schools students about the topics(Forssa school has many co-operative high schools in Kenya). Please describe the tasks and responsibilities of each partner school. Explain how you will ensure sound management of the project and good cooperation and communication between partners during project implementation.
Forssan yhteislyseo is the coordinator. As the cordinator school Forssa school is responsible of the timeschdules, the co-operation infrastructures (use of learning platforms, e-twinnig, Hangouts etc.), and the activities in general. The German school takes reponsibility for the activities during weeks in Germany. Both schools take responsibility of the activities at own schools: the activiation of students, information about the project inside the school and for the whole society and press.

Please make sure to include all project management meetings, events and local activities of each school in the section: Timetable

How did you choose the project partners? Does your project involve schools that have never participated in a Strategic Partnership? If yes, please explain how more experienced schools can support less experienced partners during the project.
